My name is Michael Kipp, I am professor for interactive media at the Augsburg University of Applied Sciences, department of computer science. In the past, I was head of a junior research group at the Cluster of Excellence "Multimodal Computing and Interaction", Saarland University, Germany, and senior researcher at the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI). I studied computer science, mathematics and psychology at Saarland University and the University of Edinburgh.
Professionally, I serve as a reviewer for the European Commission and other funding agencies, international conferences (CHI, LREC, SIGGRAPH ...) and journals (ACM TOG, ACM TIIS, ACM TACCESS ...). I am on the editorial board of the Journal for Multimodal User Interfaces (Springer) and Multimodal Technologies and Interaction (MDPI). My research interests are multimodal interaction, multitouch interaction and gesture-based interaction. 2007 and 2015 my co-authors and I received the Best Paper Awards from the IVA and INTERACT conference respectively. For my PhD research I developed the video annotation tool ANVIL.
