Turn to Zoom

The aim of this work is to create new input possibilities on touchscreens using physical objects, in order to build better user interfaces for actions that are already known. Specifically, the "pinch-to-zoom" action is replaced by a physical magnifying glass that can be used on the surface like a rotary knob to smoothly enlarge the image. The enlargement is only displayed within the magnifying glass; the rest of the image remains unchanged. The magnifying glass is detected using three touch points on the bottom of the object. Partial enlargement of the screen is especially interesting for seniors who want to continue navigating within an application despite the enlargement.
