Mesh-based Game Controller

Olcay Yenmis, Niclas Adame Fohlmeister
Our project explores the utilization of Kinect v2 sensor as an alternative game controller for mesh-manipulation. By leveraging the depth sensing capabilities of the Kinect v2, hand movements made by the user are translated into grey values and remapped for real-time manipulation of 3D meshes. The project investigates the precision and responsiveness of the Kinect v2, comparing its performance to traditional mouse and keyboard inputs. The findings of our user study have the potential to enhance the gaming experience by providing a new, more intuitive and immersive way of controlling 3D objects in virtual environments. This work contributes to the field of human-computer interaction by showcasing the potential of using depth sensing technology in gaming.
